DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team heads to its eighth straight Atlantic 10 Tournament on Sunday, traveling to No. 2 seed Davidson for a 1 p.m. quarterfinal showdown at Alumni Soccer Stadium in North Carolina.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers finished the regular season with a 8-5-4 record overall and a 4-3-1 league mark, including four straight wins to end the season. Despite the success, due to tiebreakers, Dayton enters as the No. 7 seed after a three-way tie for fifth.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 14th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 138 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a young squad this season with 15 newcomers and just two seniors.
The Flyers are averaging 1.18 goals per game and holding opponents to 0.82 goals to opponents. Dayton is outshooting opposing teams 14.5 to 11.2 and has a 38.2 shots on goal percentage. UD also benefits from a corner kick advantage as well.

Jonas Fjeldberg, who has four goals and two assists, while juniors
Daniel Dos Santos and
Rok Taneski both have team-highs with three assists and have added one goal. Goalkeeper Federio Barrios has 51 saves and eight shutouts, including two in the last two games.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
DAVIDSON
Davidson enters the tournament as the second seed after going 5-2-1 in A-10 play this season and 9-6-2 overall. The Wildcats are 4-4-1 at home this year and currently on a one-game winning streak. Head coach Matt Spear is in his 18th season at DC.
The Wildcats are a high-scoring team with 1.47 goals each outing, but are allowing 1.24 to opponents as well. Davidson averages 12.4 shots per game and giving up 10.6.
Davidson has a balanced attack with five players scoring three or more goals this season. Henry Howell leads the way with five goals and three assists while Jaylen Thompson has four goals and five assists. Goalkeeper Sawyer Gaffney has spent the majority of time in goal with 57 saves, 1.20 goals against average, and five shutouts in 17 starts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Davidson have met just four times previously with the series tied at 2-2. Earlier this season at Baujan Field, the Wildcats came in and snuck a 1-0 victory in the 101st minute of double ovetime on a rocket shot from 25-yards out.
LAST OUTING
Dayton clinched a spot in the A-10 Tournament with a road win at Fordham Wednesday, 2-0. Goals from freshmen

Jake Feiner sealed the postseason fate for the Flyers.
Davidson moved up in the A-10 standings with a 1-0 victory at Duquesne Wednesday night. Jackson Bracy scored in the 17th minute and the Wildcats held on the for the win, ending a three game winless skid.

TANESKI NAMED PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE
Junior
Rok Taneski was named to the A-10 preseason all-conference team after winning A-10 Midfielder of the Year accolades last season. The midfielder finished the year in the top three in the conference in goals (10), assists (7), and points (27).
PRESEASON
The Flyers worked through a number of different lineups in the preseason, giving multiple newcomers opportunities for playing time. Dayton tied Bowling Green 0-0 in the first exhibition game. The Flyers then hosted Ohio State at Baujan Field, a match that ended 0-0.
DAYTON PICKED TO FINISH 5TH
The Atlantic 10 Conference released its preseason poll and tabbed the Flyers to finish fifth in the league this season. With 117 points and one first-place vote, Dayton trailed preseason favorites Fordham (158), VCU (149), Massachusetts (144), and Rhode Island (124).
DAYTON WINS WOLSTEIN CLASSIC
The Flyers opened the season with a Wolstein Classic Championship, hosted at Ohio State University. Dayton drew with Hofstra 2-2 before defeating Furman 1-0 to win the title. All-Tournament team honors went to

FLYERS WIN DAYTON TOURNAMENT
Dayton won their own tournament and the second won in a row after clinching the 2018 Dayton Tournament title on Sept. 3 with a 0-0 draw against Marshall.

FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton men's program has an overall record of 495-419-90 and four NCAA Tournament appearances in its history. The Flyers are also 133-89-27 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and have six conference titles between the regular season and league tournament.
INTERNATIONAL FLAIR
The Dayton program has been known to recruit well outside of the U.S. and this year's team is no different. The Flyers have student-athletes from Ghana, Finland, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, Slovenia, Sweden, Chile, Germany, and Colombia totaling 12 international players. This is coming off the 2017 season in which the Flyers had 11 international players.

The head coach of the Flyers has had success at every place he has coached.
Dennis Currier is in his 14th year at Dayton and holds a career record of 326-138-55 in 25 seasons and a 138-89-43 record with the Flyers. His career winning percentage of .690 ranks eighth in the nation amongst active coaches, ahead of programs like Notre Dame, Louisville, UCLA, Xavier, and Virginia.
