The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly women's tennis awards on Wednesday, and junior
Mattea Kilstofte was recognized as the A-10 Conference Player of the Week. Kilstofte won both of her matches in an important 5-2 Dayton victory over Eastern Michigan last Friday. She opened the match with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles with teammate
Marlys Bridgham and then followed that up with a straight-set victory in No. 2 singles over Eastern Michigan's Anna Veleva by a 6-4, 7-5 margin.
Kilstofte becomes the third Dayton player to win the award in 2018, as seniors
Marlys Bridgham and
Jackie Kawamoto have also been recognized as Player of the Week this season. Dayton is now tied with VCU for the most A-10 Women's Player of the Week Awards received this season and is the only school in the conference to have three different players win the award.
Kilstofte and the Flyers are taking on Northern Kentucky today at the Five Seasons Sports Club at 12:45 p.m. for Senior Day. It will be the final regular season match for
Marlys Bridgham,
Jackie Kawamoto and
Jade Kawamoto, who have accrued 47 team wins as Dayton athletes over their four-year careers, before getting ready for the Atlantic 10 Championships from April 25-29 in Orlando, Fla.
