IRVING, Tex. – Two University of Dayton football players – quarterback
Alex Jeske and defensive end
Nick Surges – are part of an exclusive club among college football players this season.  Jeske and Surges – both Chicago-area natives and both Finance majors – are two of only 1,200 football-playing student-athletes (out of approximately 70,000 players) who are already college graduates. Â
The list, complied by the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, includes student-athletes from 203 football-playing institutions. Â Dayton has two of the three from the Pioneer Football League.
Jeske, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first quarter of last Saturday's 49-28 win over Robert Morris. Â He ended his career third at Dayton in completions, passing yardage and total offense.
Surges, a two-time captain, is a preseason All-PFL pick. Â In the Robert Morris win, he was one of six Flyers who had at least four tackles. Â He added a quarterback hurry.
UD travels to Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
