DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (5-6-3, 3-1-2 A-10) continues Atlantic 10 play with a home match this Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Baujan Field vs. Duquesne (5-5-2, 3-3-0 A-10). The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with Alex Mikos on the call. It is Dayton's Breast Cancer Awareness match.
The Flyers are on a three-game unbeaten streak in Atlantic 10 Conference play and currently third in the A-10 standings. UD's last three matches include a 1-0 road win at St. Bonaventure and a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Davidson on the Flyers' senior day, and a 1-1 tie at UMass.

THE SERIES
• Dayton leads the all-time series 16-3-2 vs. Duquesne.
• The last meeting was last season in Pittsburgh on Sept. 23, 2018 and resulted in a 0-0 tie. The Dukes have won two of the last four matches (3-1 at Baujan Field on Oct. 12, 2017 and 2-0 at Duquesne on Oct. 27, 2016).
• In 2015, the Dukes won the A-10 Championship as the No. 7 seed and it started with a 1-1 tie vs. the Flyers in the first round at Davidson. Duquesne advanced on PKs, 3-2.
• The Flyers are 10-2-0 overall when hosting Duquesne at Baujan Field.
FLYER FACTS
• The Flyers went 2-5-1 overall in the non-conference portion of their 2019 schedule.
• Dayton is 4-2-1 at Baujan Field this season, and 1-4-2 on the road, picking up its first road win of the season with a 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure.
• The Flyers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 15 to close out non-conference play.
• UD opened Atlantic 10 play with a 2-0 shutout over George Mason at Baujan on Sept. 22. The Flyers followed that with a 0-0 tie vs. Rhode Island at home. The three-match shutout streak was ended by a 4-1 loss at Saint Louis.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE
• Duquesne is 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-0 in A-10 play, currently in a three-way tie for seventh place, with just two points separating them from Dayton in third place.
• The Dukes are 0-5-1 in road games this season.
• Junior Deena DeBaldo leads the Dukes in scoring with 8 goals and 2 assists (18 points).
• Sophomore Megan Virgin has started 12 matches in goal for Duquesne with 46 saves and a 1.34 GAA.
• Al Alvine is in his eighth season as head coach of the Dukes.

FRESHMEN FLYER DUO EARN A-10 HONORS
Freshman
Alexis Goins was named the A-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week, while fellow freshman
Jessica Sheldon shared A-10 Rookie of the Week honors for matches played Sept. 30-Oct.6.
Goins led the Flyers with five points in Dayton's 2-0-0 week in Atlantic 10 play. Goins scored the lone goal in a 1-0 road win at St. Bonaventure Thursday night. The rookie from Fairfield, Ohio scored a goal to tie the match vs. Davidson and then had the assist on the game-winning goal vs. the Wildcats Sunday, a match in which the Flyers came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. She leads the Flyers with six goals this season.
Sheldon scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in Dayton's 3-2 come-from-behind win over Davidson Sunday at Baujan Field. The forward from Medina, Ohio, had an assist on the game-tying goal vs. the Wildcats. She then scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute. It was her first-ever collegiate goal and her first-ever collegiate assist.
Earlier this year,
Laney Huber was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for games played Sept. 9-15. Huber led the Flyers with six shots (including a team-high three on goal), a .333 shot percentage, five points, two goals, and an assist in Dayton's 1-1 week. The Loveland, Ohio, native had a goal and an assist in UD's loss to undefeated Louisville and a team-high five shots and the game-winning goal in UD's 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan to close out non-conference action.
FLYER PRESEASON PREVIEW
• The Flyers went 8-9-2 overall last season. UD returns 16 letterwinners from that squad and they have 10 newcomers.

Micayla Livingston is Dayton's leading returning scorer with 12 points.

Izzy Greene, a 2018 A-10 All-Rookie selection, was UD's second leading scorer last year with 2 goals and 2 assists.

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016).
• UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five.
• Dayton has appeared in 22 A-10 tournaments, earning a berth every year the Flyers have been a member of the conference.
FLYERS PICKED 6TH IN A-10 POLL
• The Dayton women's soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the 2019 Atlantic 10 standings in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches. They were picked to finish seventh last year and ended the season in eighth place with the final spot into the A-10 Tournament.
• Defending champion Saint Louis was picked to finish first with 192 points and 13 first-place votes.
• The top eight teams will compete in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship. The opening rounds will be held on the campus of the higher seeds on Nov. 2 and 3. The top four teams will then advance to play at Saint Louis' Hermann Stadium in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 8. The championship final will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10 with the winner earning the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. All rounds of the championship will be streamed on ESPN+.
