MOBILE, Ala. – University of Dayton tight end Adam Trautman has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl college all-star game in Mobile, Ala. on Jan. 25, 2020.  Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy extended the invitation personally to Trautman after UD's practice Wednesday night.

The Flyer co-captain will be the first Dayton player to play in the Senior Bowl since 1972.  Only five other Flyers have played in the Senior Bowl – tight end Fred Dugan (1958), linebacker Email Karas (1959), center Bob DeMarco (1961), center Leo Dillon (1971) and running back Gary Kosins (1972).

Trautman holds the Dayton career records for receptions (currently 160) and receiving touchdowns (28), the single-season record for TD receptions (currently 11) and touchdown catches in a single game (4).

For the season, the 6-foot-6, 253 pound tight end has 52 receptions for 688 yards (13.2 yards per catch) and 11 touchdowns.  He leads the PFL in receiving TDs (11), and is second in receptions per game (6.7) yards per game (86.0).  He is third in scoring (8.2).  

In FCS football, he is the top-ranked tight end in all four categories.  Overall, he is tied for first, 15th, 25th and 20th.

With three games remaining in the 2019 season, Trautman is seven receptions away from tying Matt Champa's UD single season record for catches by a tight end (59 in 2007), and 15 away from Justin Millio's overall UD record of 67 catches in a season set in 2008.

Trautman began his Dayton career at quarterback, and has lined up at tight end, slot receiver, flanker, in the backfield and even as a wildcat QB as a Flyer.  His Elk Rapids (Michigan) high school team had 18 players on it his junior year, and 21 in his senior season.

An electrical engineering major, he is a four-time member of the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll.
