Orlando, Fla. – The Flyers played an excellent first round at the MAAC Championship. Led by the strong play of Abby Bitto, Sarah Frazier, and Ellie Cronin, the Flyers are currently sitting in 2^nd place with a +18. The team finished the round with a total score of 306, which is only 6 strokes behind the leader, Albany. The team had a total of 5 birdies on the day.
 
Albany is currently in first place with a total team score of 100. Annika Espino is currently leading a field with a 73 (+1).
 
The Course
Disney's Magnolia Golf Course, designed in the classic tour style, is the site of the 2019 MAAC Championship. This beautiful course is the longest of the Walt Disney World Resort Golf Courses. Named for its majestic magnolia trees, this course features elevates tees, spacious greens, and challenging water hazards. This course offers wide fairways, but 11 of the 18 holes boast water hazards and multiple bunkers.
 
This course is rated as a 4-star course by Golf Digest.

COACH COMMENTS
Head Coach Sally Kosters was very pleased with the overall play today. She said, "Everyone on the team stayed focused all day long and did not let an errant shot here and there ruin a good round. They are all great ball-strikers and so the fight is all on the mental side. Today, there were all mentally strong. Even as well as we played, the team feels there are still a few shots to be gained tomorrow. We are really excited to go at it!"
