Kiley Tempert. These are the final races before UD competes in the Atlantic 10 Championships in Pennsauken, N.J. on Saturday, May 18.
Here is a look at what the UD seniors are doing upon graduation and their reflections on their time as a Dayton rower.
Taylor Alexander | Gaithersburg, Md.
After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles and began working at Creative Artists Agency, one of the biggest talent agencies in the world. I hope to pursue motion picture or documentary production, focused on human rights/social justice causes.
Rowing has given me a foundation of structure, discipline and perseverance. None of my other accomplishments would be possible without rowing, and I really consider it the cornerstone of my college experience. It helped me discover a mental strength I didn't know I had, and that fortitude has enabled me to approach life outside of college with the same tenacity. Being a part of the rowing team at Dayton was exhausting, beautiful, hard, humbling, powerful, fun and the biggest privilege.
Thank you to my first coach Emilie (Gross), who was my biggest cheerleader and supporter during a very difficult novice year; to Katie (Coons), who always encouraged a healthy sleep schedule even though I never listened to her; and Jared (Phillips), who was endlessly patient and always believed we were capable of greatness. Thank you to my team, especially
Hannah Butler, who made me to go to a rowing informational session with her when we were freshman, for understanding the beauty of a sunrise, too-early mornings and blisters that make up rowing. And lastly, to Mike (Wenker), who doesn't get enough credit for spending 20+ hours a week with some of the most stubborn, fierce and strong girls on campus... thanks for always being in my corner, for supporting my academic endeavors and for wanting what is best for me.
Hannah Butler | Pittsburgh, Pa.
After graduation I am staying in Dayton. I accepted a job offer from Montgomery County Environmental Services in their GIS department. Being on the rowing team has helped me throughout my four years at UD. It has helped me develop skills I will utilize throughout my life. Most importantly, being on the team has given me a support system unlike any other. My teammates have made these past four years amazing.
Liz DeNardo | Moon Township, Pa.
After graduation I will be working at WPAFB.
The team has taught me patience, discipline, trust, and that experiences are better when they are shared with others.
Big thank you to my family for their support, coaches and trainers for their guidance, and most of all to my teammates past and present who made these past four years memorable!
Kiley Tempert | Baltimore, Md.
After graduating in May with a degree in Business Administration, I'll move to Cincinnati and start to study for the CPA. I've accepted a job working for Ernst & Young in their assurance practice at their Cincinnati office starting in September.
My time here at UD has been nothing short of phenomenal, with rowing being at the heart of my experience. I attribute so many of my successes to the love and support I received day in and day out from my family, friends, past and present teammates, and coaching staff.
Thank you all for believing in me and pushing me every day to become a better rower. Go Flyers!
