ST. LOUIS – University of Dayton sophomore running back Jake Chisholm was named the Pioneer Football League's offensive Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in UD's game with Duquesne on Saturday.

Chisholm took the second-half kickoff and returned it 97 yards to give the Flyers a 28-21 lead.  For the day, he averaged 34.3 yards per return on four kickoffs.  He also carried the ball six times for 34 yards (5.7 avg.) and caught two passes for 12 yards, including a 10-yard TD reception for UD's first touchdown of the game.

Chisholm's 97-yard TD return was Dayton's first since Cameron Stubbs' 94-yard return against Marist in 2016, and UD's longest since Gary Hunter's 100-yard return in 2012.

Dayton fell for the first time in 2019 on Saturday, losing to the NEC champion 35-31.

For the season, Chisholm has returned eight kickoffs, and averages 35.2 yards per return.  If had played enough games to be ranked, Chisholm would led the PFL and would be third in FCS football.  To be ranked, players must play in 75% of a team's games, and Chisholm has played in two of the Flyers' three games. 

Dayton finished the non-conference portion of the schedule 2-1.  The Flyers have a bye week, and then will open conference play at home against Jacksonville on Saturday, Oct. 5.
