NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton women's tennis sophomore Claire Ghidotti earned the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week award for her play during the season's opening weekend. Ghidotti is in her first season of collegiate competition.

Ghidotti, a sophomore from Dublin, Ohio, opened her collegiate career with back-to-back wins in the six spot for Dayton over the weekend. On Saturday, she defeated Northern Kentucky's Hannah Watton in a 7-6, 7-6 battle at Dayton's new home site, South Regency Tennis Center, in her Flyers debut. Ghidotti followed that with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Xavier's Lauren Fitz-Randolph in Cincinnati on Sunday night.

Dayton returns to action this weekend with back-to-back home matches. On Saturday, UD will play host to Marshall at 6 p.m. followed by a 10 a.m. match-up against Butler on Sunday. Both matches will be played at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio.
