Claire Ghidotti earned the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week award for her play during the season's opening weekend. Ghidotti is in her first season of collegiate competition.
Ghidotti, a sophomore from Dublin, Ohio, opened her collegiate career with back-to-back wins in the six spot for Dayton over the weekend. On Saturday, she defeated Northern Kentucky's Hannah Watton in a 7-6, 7-6 battle at Dayton's new home site, South Regency Tennis Center, in her Flyers debut. Ghidotti followed that with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Xavier's Lauren Fitz-Randolph in Cincinnati on Sunday night.
Dayton returns to action this weekend with back-to-back home matches. On Saturday, UD will play host to Marshall at 6 p.m. followed by a 10 a.m. match-up against Butler on Sunday. Both matches will be played at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio.
