Baseball Heads To Memphis For Weekend Series

Flyers Will Look To Build On 3-1 Start

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a 3-1 start to the season, the University of Dayton baseball team will travel to Memphis for a weekend series with the Tigers.

The Flyers will begin on Friday with a 3 p.m. Eastern Time start to the contest. Dayton will return at the same time on Saturday before finishing on Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time at FedExPark in Memphis.

All three contests will include free live stats and audio, while Friday and Sunday's games will also feature a free live stream.

The Flyers split on Opening Day last Friday, taking the first game 9-2 over Bryant before dropping a close contest to UNCW. Dayton won its next two contests over Bryant again and UNCW to open 2020 in a successful fashion.

WEEKEND SCOUTING REPORT
Head coach Jayson King said he is looking forward to playing another quality program this weekend.

"We are looking forward to a very competitive weekend at Memphis," King said. "Every series is a chance to compete and get better which we always appreciate."

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers will roll into the weekend 1-3 after dropping a midweek game to Central Arkansas on Wednesday.

Memphis opened the season going 1-2 against Xavier last weekend. The Tigers took the first game 6-1 on Friday behind five hitless innings from Danny Denz before falling to the Musketeers on Saturday and Sunday.

The program was picked to finish eighth in the nine-team American Athletic Conference after a 27-28 season. The AAC sent three teams to the NCAA Baseball Championship in 2019.

On the mound, the Tigers are led by Denz. The lefty stands at 1-0 and has yet to allow a hit while striking out five on the young season. Takoda Metoxen also saw action last weekend, with all eight outs he recorded coming by strikeout.

At the plate, Memphis has two position players that were selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team in Hunter Goodman and Alec Trela. Ben Brooks is also hitting .462 through four games this season with two home runs and four runs batted in.
