GREENWOOD, Ind. – University of Dayton baseball graduate Danny MacDougall has been named to the Academic All-American First Team, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
MacDougall finished his academic career with a 3.83 GPA while pursuing his Master of Business Administration degree. In undergrad at Maine and Endicott, he had a 3.92 cumulative GPA.
He is the fourth Flyer to earn CSC Academic All-American, joining Tom Adams, Tom Beechem and Robert Bosticco, and the first since Beechem made First Team Academic All-America in 2004.
The Taunton, Mass. native has been recognized for his success on and off the diamond this season. MacDougall was recognized at the conference level with placement on the All-Academic team and All-Atlantic 10 First Team. He also earned regional honors as a member of the ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region First Team.
Leading off the FlyBoys, MacDougall slashed .384/.480/.661, setting single-season records with 24 doubles and 70 runs scored. He also entered the Flyers record book with 34 stolen bases, 86 hits and a .384 batting average. Defensively, the second baseman recorded 98 putouts and 121 assists. He was also one of two players to start in all 54 games this season.
MacDougall and the 13 other members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.84.
