GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Dayton baseball team had two players selected to ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region teams, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
The teams are selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, with the process overseen by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Danny MacDougall earned a spot on the East All-Region First Team. Michael Smith Jr. picked up second team honors.
MacDougall made his mark on the Flyers this season, entering the record book in single-season categories such as stolen bases (34), hits (86) and batting average (.384). He set single-season records in both doubles (24) and runs scored (70). The Taunton, Mass. native was named Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference and All-Academic, while also receiving national recognition with Baseball America's Team of the Week and D1Baseball's Top 50 Second Basemen.
Smith Jr. had a successful junior season, leading the team and setting the single-season record in stolen bases with 38. Slashing .332/.502/.588, the Pensacola, Fla. native hit 10 doubles and 10 home runs on the year and helped set a team record in hit-by-pitch with a team-leading 20 hit-by-pitches. He also tied for first on the team with 56 RBIs for the FlyBoys. Nationally, Smith Jr. was ranked No. 67 on D1Baseball's Top 100 Outfielders.
First Team All-Region selections are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America teams will be announced on Friday, June 12, prior to the start of the NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
