Jason Ordway Welcomes 7 To Women's Cross Country And Track & Field

Margaret Allen, Rayana Burns, Abby Carter, Zoe Chappelle, Jenna Eggleston, Keelin Kelly And Aden Lumbley Have All Committed To Joining UD

DAYTON – University of Dayton director of cross country/track & field Jason Ordway has announced the addition of seven student-athletes for the 2020-21 season.

Margaret Allen, Rayana Burns, Abby Carter, Zoe Chappelle, Jenna Eggleston, Keelin Kelly and Aden Lumbley have all committed to joining UD next season.

"We are thrilled to announce our incoming recruiting class of 2020," said Ordway. "We have some incredibly talented student-athletes joining our squad this fall that add some extra depth to each of our event groups."
 
The following student-athletes have committed for women's cross country, as well as indoor and outdoor track:

allenMargaret Allen – Zionsville, Ind. | Zionsville Community High School
Coach Ordway's Comments
"Margaret Allen is going to be a very nice boost to our mid-distance squad. She is going to be a phenomenal asset for us to help fill up our relays and events from the 800-Mile. I think she's one of types of racers that once she gets the baton she can elevate her performance for her team and really race to another level."

  • Part of Zionsville squad that were Cross Country Conference Champions (2017, 2019), Sectional/Regional Champions (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), Semi-State Champions (2018, 2019)
  • Zionsville were cross country State Champions (2017) and State Runners-Up (2018, 2019) during her time as well.

Coach Ordway's Comments
"Abby Carter brings with her a lot of success and experience from being on a good team. She has the fastest mile time in this recruiting class, but she also has very good range among all of her events. I think she'll be a great team player for us to fill several roles wherever we need her in her first year. Once she develops a bit in our system we'll be able to fine tune what her best event is and where she can benefit us most."

Coach Ordway's Comments
"Zoe Chappelle is going to be a great addition to our long distance group. She has performed very well in the 3200m and 5K and seems to get stronger the longer the distance. I'm very excited to add some depth to those events and add some fresh legs to our cross country squad. I think the 6K in cross country and the 10K on the track will really allow her to shine and showcase her ability."

"Jenna Eggleston immediately fit in with the team and has a fantastic attitude to add to the positive culture of our team. She is an extremely hard worker, a great student, and is willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. I think she will really benefit in our training system and I'm looking forward to watch how she develops over the next several years."

"Rayana Burns is going to be a big-time competitor for us for years to come. Rayana brings a ton of talent, utility, expertise, athleticism, and work ethic to our sprints/jumps group. Coach Aaron Gordon will have a key performer that can excel and compete in several events and relays and is willing to do what it takes to perform at a high level."

"Aden Lumbley was an immediate perfect match for our throws squad. Aden has a wonderful personality that combines hard work, positivity, and a team mentality that perfectly aligns with Coach Kevin Gilhuly's mindset for his event group. I think she will add a lot of toughness and grit to our throws squad and compete to make an impact right away."
