Erin Whalen have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week for contests during Dec. 13-26.
Holmes, a native of Goodyear, Arizona, was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week after his effort in the Flyers' win over Southern on Dec. 21. He scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out four assists and blocked four shots. He made three of five field goals, and four of six free throws in the win. On the season, Holmes is tied for the team lead in scoring (10.4 ppg.) and second in rebounding (5.0). He leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in field goal percentage (.651, 56-86). His 23 dunks are third nationally among freshmen, behind Jalen Duren of Memphis (26) and Kendall Brown of Baylor (24), and just ahead of Chet Holmgren of Gonzaga (21).Â
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Whalen averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in Dayton's wins over High Point and Clemson at the West Palm Beach Invitational before the Christmas break. The graduate student was named First Team All-Tournament after hitting eight three pointers against HPU which was the second most in a single game in school history.
