OXFORD, Ohio –  The University of Dayton track and field team opened the 2021 outdoor track and field season Saturday at the Miami University Blizzard Buster.

Highlights

• Five Flyers were crowned individual champions: sophomore Casey Bogues in javelin, freshman Christierra Williams in the triple jump, senior Corey Rinella in the long jump, and Carolyn Bakx and Katherine Santangelo tied for first in pole vault.
• Taylor Flight earned two silvers with PR marks in shot put and discus.
• Five different Dayton student-athletes set UD Top marks:
  • Bogues recorded the second-best mark in javelin with 47.11m.
  • Graduate student Lainey Studebaker earned bronze in the 3000m run with her time of 10:01.52, second all-time in UD history.
  • Williams had the third-best triple jump all-time with her mark of 11.74m.
  • Rinella's PR in the long jump of 5.43m puts her at third all-time at Dayton.
  • Flight had a PR of 47.72m in the discus, a mark that is fourth-best, all-time in Flyer history.
• There were 30 personal bests set by the Flyers.
