Men's Tennis To Play Three Home Matches This Weekend

Flyers Ranked 71st By ITA

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will host three matches this weekend, including two against conference opponents. The Flyers will take on Duquesne Friday at 7 p.m. before returning for Sunday contests against Saint Louis and IU-East. Saint Louis is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and IU-East at 5 p.m. All three matches will take place at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.
 
UD will play its first match since last Wednesday, a 7-0 victory over Northern Kentucky to put the team's overall record at 8-5 in 2021. Dayton is 7-0 at South Regency this season and currently sit 71st in the nation according to ITA, the best ranking in program history. The Flyers have not dropped a point in the team's last three matches, shutting out Eastern Illinois, Xavier, and NKU in the process.
 
Duquesne will play its third-consecutive conference match on Friday night after falling at VCU and Richmond last weekend. The Dukes are 1-2 in A-10 play this season and sit at 3-3 overall in 2021. Alex Mascioli has been the mainstay at No. 1 singles for Duquesne, and sits with a 3-2 record and 1-1 against A-10 opponents.
 
Saint Louis will also be competing in the team's first conference matches this weekend and sit at 5-3 in 2021. The Billikens have won five matches in a row, including a 4-3 victory over Oral Roberts last Friday. SLU has performed well in No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles this season, sitting at 6-2 in the third singles flight and 6-1 in No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 singles Saint Louis has featured Elliot Ekindi six times with Oscar Alvarez sitting at 1-0 in the first singles flight.
 
IU-East enters the weekend 5-6 in 2021 and will play the third of five matches in five days against the Flyers. The team is coming off a match on March 14 against Freed-Hardeman, a 6-1 win for the Red Wolves.
 
Dayton owns an 11-10 series lead over Duquesne, 10-3 lead over Saint Louis, and will take on IU-East for the first time in program history.
