Casey Bogues Qualifies For NCAA National Championships

She Becomes The Third Flyer To Qualify For Outdoor Track & Field Nationals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Dayton track and field standout Casey Bogues qualified for the NCAA National Championships in javelin at the NCAA East preliminary round at Hodges Stadium today.

Bogues placed ninth of 48 competitors with a mark of 50.96m, which she threw on her first attempt.

The top 12 individuals earned a spot at the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field from June 9-12. Auburn senior Kylee Carter won the event with a mark of 56.01m.

Bogues becomes just the third Flyer to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships; she joins the elite group of Emily Borchers (2019 in SteepleChase) and Mallory Barnes (2010 and 2011 in Hammer Throw).

In her first collegiate outdoor season, Bogues has already won the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship in javelin with a school-record and conference-record mark of 51.28m.

She has earned four A-10 weekly honors this year. She was named the A-10 Outdoor Women's Field Performer of the Week for April 12-18. Bogues has also been named the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week three times, taking the honor in the first two weeks of the season and again April 19-25.
