DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to close out the pre-conference portion of its 2021 schedule this weekend at the Michigan Invitational. Dayton will square off against Boston College, Eastern Michigan and host Michigan Sept. 17-18 at the Wolverines' Cliff Keen Arena in Ann Arbor.

About Dayton
Dayton (4-4) closed out the Flyer-Raider Invitational with back-to-back straight-set wins over Illinois State and Central Michigan last weekend. The Flyers' offense is led by current A-10 Player of the Week senior Jamie Peterson with 3.79 kills/set (4th A-10) and 0.31 aces/set (10th A-10) and the team's primary setter is sophomore Livie Sandt with 7.69 assists/set (4th A-10). On defense, senior Maura Collins leads the team with 4.03 digs/set (5th A-10) while sophomore Amelia Moore records 1.41 blocks/set (2nd A-10).

Scouting Boston College
Boston College (10-1) is coming off a straight-set win at Rhode Island this past Sunday following a 2-1 weekend at the St. John's Classic. St. John's outlasted BC on Friday, 3-2, to end the Eagles eight-game season-opening winning streak. Clare Naughton is the team's leading attacker with 3.59 attacks/set while Anna Murphy gets under 3.98 digs/set. Amaka Chukwujekwu collects 1.05 blocks/set for the Eagles.

Scouting Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan (4-4) went 2-1 last weekend at the UIC Invitational, picking up wins over host UIC and Belmont after falling to Chicago State. Samantha Basham tallies 2.73 kills/set while Madeline Timmerman serves up 0.50 aces/set and Jayden Otto serves as the team's primary setter with 10.04 assists/set. On defense for the Eagles, Kamryn Stilwell passes 4.04 digs/set and Raeven Chase is the team's leading blocker with 1.07 blocks/set.

Scouting Michigan
Michigan (4-2) most recently split its matches at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge last week, outlasting Duke, 3-2, before falling to North Carolina by the same score. Paige Jones is the team's leading scorer with 4.40 points/set and Mary Pertofsky averages 0.50 aces/set. Hannah Grant is the team's leading passer with 4.33 digs/set while Jess Robinson tallies 1.33 blocks/set.

Boston College: First Meeting
Friday's match featuring Dayton and Boston College will be the first between the two programs.

Eastern Michigan: Dayton leads, 4-2
Dayton has won the last two meetings in the all-times series that dates back to 1990. The Flyers swept the Eagles at home on Sept. 19, 2015, in the pair's last match up.

Michigan: Michigan leads, 3-1
After dropping the first three meetings against Michigan, Dayton picked up a 3-2 win over the Wolverines on Sept. 7, 2019 at home.

In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2020 season, Dayton ranked 21st according to NCAA.com. Boston College came in at 156th, Eastern Michigan was ranked 193rd and Michigan was rated 154th overall.

Last Time Out
Dayton closed out the Flyer-Raider Invitational Saturday night with a 3-0 win over visiting Central Michigan. Freshman Lexie Almodovar recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a match-high 17 kills while swinging at .441 to go with 10 digs and senior Jamie Peterson added 16 kills for the Flyers.
