Women's Soccer Battles VCU On Road Sunday

The Flyers And Rams Kick Off At 1 PM

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team returns to Atlantic 10 action Sunday, Oct. 8 when it travels to Richmond, Va. to take on VCU at Sports Backers Stadium at 1 p.m.
 
FOUR GOAL FLURRY (AGAIN)
• The Flyers found the back of the net four times at George Washington last week, marking the fourth time this season UD has scored four-or-more goals. They won by identical 4-1 scores over Loyola Maryland and Cincinnati, while also registering a 5-2 win over Akron.
 
• For the second time this season, Dayton scored all four goals in the second half. The Flyers registered tallies in minutes 48, 72, 86, and 90 to top the Revolutionaries.

HUBER'S MULTI-GOAL PERFORMANCE
• Fifth-year Laney Huber scored two goals against George Washington last week, giving the Loveland, Ohio native her second two-goal match of the season.
 
• Huber started Dayton's scoring with a goal fresh out of halftime (48'), and then knocked in her second in the waning minutes of the match (86').
 
• The fifth-year also scored two goals against Wright State earlier in the season (Sept. 3), and has now scored 22 goals in her career.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Dayton and VCU have played 12 times in program history, with the Rams holding a decided advantage in the series overall, posting a 6-2-4 record over the Flyers.
 
• The Flyers have lost each of the last four meetings with the Rams and are winless (0-6-1) since Nov. 7, 2014.
 
• UD is 1-2-1 when playing the series in Richmond, with the lone victory coming Nov. 7, 2013.
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• Dayton improved to 8-1-5 on the season and 3-0-3 in the Atlantic 10 after cruising to a 4-1 victory over George Washington last week.
 
• The offense is led by fifth-year Laney Huber, senior Madison Wilson and junior Noel Blain, who each have each scored five goals this season. Wilson leads the team with 14 points. Senior Diana Benigno's six assists lead the Flyers and is tied for most in the A-10.
 
• Sophomore keeper Batoul Reda has 57 saves on the season against 147 total shots for a save percentage of .864. The Dearborn, Mich. native boasts a 8-0-5 record and has five shutouts and a combined shutout on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE RAMS
• VCU is 3-7-3 on the season, including a 2-3-1 record in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams are 1-4-2 at home this season and are coming off a 1-0 home loss to Saint Louis.
 
• Redshit Senior Anna Bagley leads VCU in points on the season with 13 (3 goals, 5 assists), while senior Milica Bulatovic is tied for the team lead in goals with three. Junior Kanna Matsuhisa has the team-high in shots (30), and shots on goal (12).
 
• Junior Allison Karpovich has been the primary keeper for the Rams this season, having played in 13 matches and logging over 975 minutes. She has made 32 saves and owns a goals-against average of 1.01. She has a 3-5-3 record on the campaign with three clean sheets and two combined shutouts.

• Dayton returns to the friendly confines of Baujan Field for its final home stretch of the 2023 regular season, hosting George Mason Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
