Sunday’s Football Spring Game Moved To 2:30 P.M. ET Start

Offense Will Play Defense In Controlled Scrimmage

DAYTON – The University of Dayton football team is finishing up its first spring season under new coach Trevor Andrews, with the Flyers' spring game coming up on Sunday, April 2.

The spring game start time has been moved to later in the day than previously announced.  It will now begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.  The time change was to avoid direct conflicts with other events scheduled for Sunday at the Arena Sports Complex.

Sunday's spring game will be played at the Jerry Von Mohr Practice Facility.  Due to limited seating at JVM, fans are encouraged to bring their own seating.  Returning players and their families will be located at the east end of the field, while new recruits and their families will be located at the west end.  Other fans at the game can sit in the north grandstand, or in their own chairs on either side of the offensive team bench area on the north track.

The winning team will be announced at a later date when film evaluation is concluded.  Immediately after Sunday's spring game, the 2023 team captains will be announced.

Admission to the spring game is free.  The Flyer football program is also accepting non-perishable food donations to benefit the Food4Flyers Food Pantry at Sunday's game.

Andrews also announced two additions to his first UD recruiting class:

•    Vincent Firenze         S    6-4    200    Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee
o    First Team All-New York DB for 2022 Section 3 Class A champions; Had seven career interceptions (three for TD)
•    Luke Hansen        RB    5-11    205    Indianapolis, Ind. / Roncalli
o    Led the state of Indiana in rushing in 2022 (3,080 yards, 35 TD); Marion County Player of the Year; First Team All-Indiana

Among the Dayton returnees are eight Flyers who earned All-Pioneer Football League honors last season – offensive tackle David Tkatch, defensive tackle Sam Schadek (who were named to the first team), linebacker Nathan Arthur (second team) and wideouts Luke Brenner, Sam Bubonics and Derek Willits, safety Cole Hildebrand and placekicker Sam Webster (all honorable mention).

UD was 8-3 overall in 2022, including 6-2 in the PFL, which tied them for second place in the league.
