Bogues Sets New Javelin School Record At Texas Relays

Casey Bogues Is Back And Better Than Ever

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Dayton track and field standout, Casey Bogues, took fourth place in the javelin throw while breaking her own UD record at the Texas Relays.

"That was one of the most competitive fields in women's javelin at the Texas Relays, and Casey competed as she always has with absolute intensity," shared Associate Head Coach Kevin Gilhuly. "Placing fourth at what is most likely a very similar field of who will be competing at Nationals later in the year was a great way to see where we are currently during the year..."

In her second of six attempts in the javelin throw, Bogues threw for 53.80m. She surpassed her school record of 53.39m, which she set in June 2021 at the NCAA Championships. Her new A-10 leading distance is nearly seven meters further than her previous A-10 leading mark. Bogues' performance also ranks in the top five in the NCAA East Region and in the top 12 nationally.

"The weather and the competition provided a great opportunity for Casey to break the school record again, but we know she is just getting started," said Gilhuly. "We have a lot of work to do from now until conference [championships], and it was a great way to let the conference know she is back."
