McMillan Langhorst Named #UDTF Assistant Coach

Former U.S. Olympic Heptathlete Rejoins UD Track And Field

DAYTON - University of Dayton track and field head coach Kevin Gilhuly has announced the addition of Chantae McMillan Langhorst as an assistant coach.

McMillan Langhorst was a U.S. Olympic heptathlete and competed in the heptathlon at the 2012 London Olympics. The Rolla, Missouri, native was a track and field standout at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was a five-time All-American, four-time Big 12 Champion, two-time school record holder, and three-time team captain. During her four years at Nebraska, she competed at the national championships seven times between the indoor and outdoor seasons.

The 2012 Olympian has made multiple stops at UD. McMillan Langhorst was named a volunteer assistant coach in February 2021 and previously served as a volunteer on the Flyer staff while training for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"I'm so excited to join the University of Dayton as an assistant track & field coach," commented McMillan Langhorst. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to give back to the sport in this role, help the athletes become their best, and reach new heights as a team."

The former Big 12 Champion will join head coach Kevin Gilhuly and the Flyers, who earned the program's first outdoor track and field Atlantic 10 Championship in May.

"Chantae is the kind of sprints, jumps and multis coach you build a group around," said Gilhuly. "She did the heptathlon at the Olympics, so she's trained and raced every single event our sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers and multis athletes do. And I'm not going off reputation. In 2021 she was in our building every day, training with me for the Olympic Trials and volunteering with our athletes at the same time. What stood out was how intentional she is. Nothing in her day is accidental and every session had a purpose. She wanted to be better walking out than she was walking in, and she held our athletes to that same standard. That's who our group is getting. And she already knows this program and what it takes to not only score in the A-10 but produce national level talent."
