DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team opens up play at Baujan Field this Friday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. against IUPUI.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton returns home with a 0-1-1 record on the year after competing at the Ohio State Wolstein Classic last weekend. The Flyers were 5-1-1 at home in 2022.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 19th season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the 2020 season.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 1.00 goal per game while giving up 2.00 goals to opponents. Dayton is out-shooting opposing teams 13.0 to 8.5, but at a lower percentage.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
IUPUI
IUPUI comes to Dayton with a 1-1 record on the season and went 1-1-1 in the preseason ahead of 2023. The Jaguars hold a 3-1 victory over Southern Indiana, but fell on the road at Notre Dame.
Head coach Sid van Druenen is in his second season at IUPUI after leading the Jaguars to their best campaign in the last 12 years in 2022, finishing third in the Horizon League and earning a spot in the Horizon Tournament Championship game.
As a team, IUPUI is scoring 1.50 goals each outing and allowing 3.00 goals to opposing squads. The Jaguars are narrowly out-shooting opponents by a 0.5 margin, but at a higher on-goal percentage.
IUPUI's main offensive threat is Lukas Hackaa, who leads the team with two goals, four points, and four shots on goal. He also has the lone-game winner against USI. Goalkeeper Lucas Morefield has started both games and has three saves on the season.
LAST OUTING
Dayton earned a late draw against Cal State Northridge in the Wolstein Classic finale Sunday, scoring with less than five minutes to play to make it a 2-2 final decision.
IUPUI suffered its first loss of the season with a 5-0 thumping at Notre Dame Sunday. The Fighting Irish scored early and often, including two goals in the final five minutes of action. Matthew Roou finished with a hat trick for the hosts.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and IUPUI have met three times previously in the regular season with the Flyers holding a 3-0 series advantage. The two teams last met in 2014 with UD winning on the road 5-0.

FLYERS PICKED 2ND IN PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second this upcoming season in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll. The Flyers received 161 points behind reigning A-10 Champs Saint Louis, who earned 13 of the 14 first-place votes, Loyola Chicago earning one.

Dayton historically has had a diverse team with players hailing from all over the globe. This season is no different with the Flyers having 17 international student-athletes.
WELCOME TO DAYTON
The Flyers are bringing in the most newcomers they have had in recent history with 20 new players joining the program including 16 freshmen.
