DAYTON – The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association released its annual All-Ohio teams this week, recognizing six different members of the University of Dayton women's soccer team for their success on the field and in the classroom last season.
Fifth-years
Alicia Donley,
Marlee Taylor and
Laney Huber all earned First Team honors, while sophomore
Batoul Reda and fifth-year
Mackenzie Lutz received Second Team nods. In addition, Donley and Taylor were named Academic First Team members, while Huber and senior
Yaiza Navarro Leon earned Academic Second Team honors.
Dayton had the most individuals honored by the association with six, earning a state-best nine awards.
Donley started 17 games and played 1,388 minutes as a defender in the 2023 season, adding two goals and three assists for seven points on the offensive side as well. The fifth-year held a 3.79 GPA as a Communications major, also earning a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection in addition to the All-Ohio Academic First Team honor.
Taylor led the Flyers in minutes played (1,759), was second on the team in assists (5), and fourth in both points (13) and goals scored (4). She was also an All-Ohio Academic First Team honoree, posting a 3.86 GPA as a Strategic Public Relations major.
Huber started all 20 matches for the Flyers and was Dayton's top scorer in 2023, finding the back of the net seven times and adding an assist for 14 points. The Loveland, Ohio native represented the Flyers on the All-Ohio Academic Second Team as well, boasting a 3.72 GPA as a Business Administration major.
Reda turned in one of the best performances in program history, turning in a 0.52 goals-against average as well as a UD women's soccer record .891 save percentage.
Lutz was a crucial component of the Dayton defense, anchoring the Atlantic 10's best unit as a center back, allowing a league-low 0.556 goals per game on the season.
Finally, Senior
Yaiza Navarro Leon was tabbed an All-Ohio Second Team member, touting an impressive 3.9289 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. Barcelona, Spain native played a critical part in Dayton's league-leading defense, playing as a box-to-box midfielder for a defense that allowed a league-leading 0.556 goals per game.
The nine total honors from the OCSA for six individuals marks the most for the Flyers in program history.
