Women's Soccer Hosting Rhode Island Sunday At 1 p.m.

Flyers to Celebrate Youth Day / Camper Reunion

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's soccer team will play host to Atlantic 10 foe Rhode Island Sunday on Youth Day / Camper Reunion Day. The Flyers and Rams are set to kickoff at 1 p.m. at Baujan Field and admission is free.

Campers who wear their camp shirt will be able to take a picture on the field post-game and the team will be signing autographs.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (9-3, 3-1 A-10) has won three-straight and six of its last seven matches heading into Sunday's game against Rhode Island. The Flyers' offense is led by senior Noel Blain with 23 points (1st A-10, 6th NCAA) on the strength of nine goals (1st A-10, 13th NCAA) and five assists (t-4th A-10). Junior goalkeeper Batoul Reda anchors a UD defense that has recorded six clean sheets on the season (2nd A-10, 14th NCAA) and she carries a 1.08 GAA (8th A-10) with 31 saves.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island (5-5-2, 2-2 A-10) evened its league record with a 6-0 win over Richmond at home on Thursday. Lauren MacDonald leads the Rams with nine points on four goals and one assist while Sam Hagerty has dished out five assists. In goal for URI, Abby McCarthy played 990 minutes over the Rams' first 11 matches but Dani Eden earned the starting nod against Richmond, making eight saves in the shutout win.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 19-3-1
In a series that dates back to 1997, Dayton is currently enjoying an 11-match unbeaten streak against Rhode Island. The last time the Rams defeated the Flyers was Nov. 2, 2006 during the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship as URI downed UD, 3-2. Last season, Dayton claimed a 1-0 win at Rhode Island on Oct. 22 to close out regular-season play.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton won its third-straight conference win last Sunday with a 2-1 victory at Duquesne. Eight Flyers played the full 90 minutes, including junior keeper Batoul Reda who is the only Flyer to have played all 1,080 minutes this season. Senior Noel Blain and junior Kyra Karfonta each tallied a goal in the win. As a team, Dayton fired off 18 shots, six of which were on target, compared to Duquesne's 10.

FLYER FACTS
Eric Golz is in his eighth season as head coach of the Flyers in 2024. His record at Dayton is 81-48-16 (.614) and his career win-loss mark sits at 101-64-21 (.599) over a total of 10 seasons. Golz has tallied the program's second-most wins, behind Mike Tucker who had 313 wins over 22 seasons (1995-2016) at Dayton.
• Senior Noel Blain claimed her first Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week award on Sept. 23 as she recorded her second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals and adding one assist in Dayton's 4-0 win  over visiting Richmond.
• Freshman Liv Grenda claimed the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 19 after scoring her first collegiate goal in Dayton's 2-1 win at Loyola Maryland on opening day.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). Over 28 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 34-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship.
• The Flyers finished the 2023 season with a 13-2-5 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference mark, finishing in third place in regular-season play.

UP NEXT
Dayton will be on the road next week at Massachusetts in Atlantic 10 action on Oct. 13. The Flyers and Minutewomen will matchup at 1 p.m. Sunday in Amherst at Rudd Field.

SHE CAN DISH IT OUT
Over her 85 games played as a Flyer, graduate student Diana Benigno has tallied a total of 22 assists. Her 22 career assists ranks her 20th among all active DI players and tied for eighth on the program's career assists leaders list.

LAST LINE OF DEFENSE
Junior goalkeeper Batoul Reda carries a career goals against average of 0.83 through 49 games played at Dayton, highlighted by a career-low GAA of 0.52 for the 2023 season. The 0.83 GAA currently ranks her 19th among all active DI players and third on the program's career GAA leaders list. With six shutout wins this season, she has a total of 22 for her career.

TRICK OF THE HAT
In Dayton's 9-0 win over Mercyhurst on Aug. 29, senior Noel Blain recorded her first career hat trick with three goals against the Lakers at Baujan Field. The Canton, Mich., native also added an assist to Liv Grenda in the 57' of the match. She repeated the feat on Sept. 22 against Richmond with three goals and one assist. Blain's nine goals and five assists this season are both new career highs.
