FINDLAY- University of Dayton track and field started the indoor season at the Oiler Open hosted by the University of Findlay on Thursday. Five Flyers competed in the pentathlon with Evelyn Albers, Rayana Burns, Raegan Ernst, Sophia Goluba and Mia Malito all in action at the Robert A. Malcolm Athletic Center. It was big return for Albers, who won the event on Thursday, after she missed all competition last year because of injury. Rayana Burns, who was competing in the pentathlon for the first time also had a strong showing finishing third.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Evelyn Albers set a personal best in four events and picked up her first collegiate win.
- Raegan Ernst finished second in the 60m hurdles. The junior from Dublin, Ohio ran 9.39.
- Mia Malito in her collegiate debut finished first in the high jump when the freshman cleared 1.65m. The Flyers took the top spots in the high jump with both Evelyn Albers and Rayana Burns placing second at 1.56m, for Albers it was a PR.
- Burns had a big throw in the shot put and finished second (10.88m).
- Albers set a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.15 to finish third and ran a best 2:33.25 in the 800 to place fourth.
