Women's Soccer At Purdue For Sunday Matinee

Flyers and Boilermakers will Get Underway at 1 p.m. at Purdue's Folk Field

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's soccer team will be in West Lafayette, Indiana, tomorrow for a afternoon matinee against Purdue. The Flyers and Boilermakers are set to kick off at 1 p.m. at Purdue's Folk Field. Admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (3-1) is stepping outside the friendly confines of Baujan Field after three consecutive home games for a midday matchup at Purdue. The Flyers posted a 9-0 win over Mercyhurst Thursday night and have won three of the first four matches of the season. Freshman Liv Grenda leads the team with four goals (2nd A-10) and graduate student Diana Benigno has tallied a team-best four assists (t-1st A-10) while Grenda and senior Noel Blain are even at eight points apiece (t-3rd A-10). Junior keeper Batoul Reda has played all 360 minutes in goal for UD and ranks fifth in the A-10 with 15 saves on the season.

SCOUTING PURDUE
Purdue (3-1-1) has picked up back-to-back wins over UIC (2-0) and DePaul (3-0) after drawing 1-1 with Loyola Chicago on Aug. 22. The Boilermakers' offense is paced by Gracie Dunaway with two goals, two assists and six shots on goal. Emily Edwards has been in goal for Purdue for four of its five games this season. She carries a 0.75 GAA and has collected 10 saves.

SERIES STUFF
In four meetings all-time between Dayton and Purdue, the Flyers claimed wins in the first three matchups. The Boilermakers recorded a 2-0 win over the Flyers in West Lafayette on Sept. 3, 2017.

LAST TIME OUT
Coming off a tough 3-0 loss against then-19th ranked Xavier on Aug. 25, Dayton was able to get back in the win column on Thursday against Mercyhurst. The Flyers scored nine goals and recorded a total of 44 shots in the shutout victory over the Lakers at Baujan Field. Senior Noel Blain notched her first career hat trick with three goals in just 39 minutes on the pitch while graduate student Diana Benigno tallied a career-high three assists to go with one goal. Junior goalkeeper Batoul Reda faced only one shot on goal from Mercyhurst, a save to push her total to 15 on the season.

FLYER FACTS
Eric Golz is in his eighth season as head coach of the Flyers in 2024. His record at Dayton is 75-46-16 (.606) and his career win-loss mark sits at 95-62-21 (.593) over a total of 10 seasons. Golz has tallied the program's second-most wins, behind Mike Tucker who had 313 wins over 22 seasons (1995-2016) at Dayton.
• Freshman Liv Grenda claimed the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 19 after scoring her first collegiate goal in Dayton's 2-1 win at Loyola Maryland on opening day.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). Over 28 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 34-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship.
