CEDARVILLE, Ohio- The University of Dayton Men's Cross Country team finished 7th out of 13 teams on Saturday at the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at Cedarville University.
A smiling Owen Pukys crossed the line in third place overall, earning all conference first team honors in a time of 23:58.9. Freshman Kamden Kramer won Most Outstanding Rookie as the first overall freshman across the line, finishing 23rd in 24:44.1. A span of just eight seconds separated three Flyers as Noah Clemens, Alex Bendaña, and Jameson Maynes finished 41st, 43rd, and 47th overall respectively. All three set new personal records on the day. Rounding out the scoring positions for the Flyers was Andrew Wilcox with a time of 25:31.3. Jacob Reash was right behind him as the sixth Dayton runner across the line in a personal best time of 25:32.2.
Head coach David Dobson said of the team's performance, "Move it forward has been mindset for both teams this fall. The men started out the day doing just that and I am really proud of the competitive effort I witnessed. Our scorers today laid it out on the line and truly moved the program forward. Specifically, Owen's race for third overall was outstanding. He embodies the Flyer Mentality we thrive on each day. Having Rookie of the Year go to Kamden was fantastic! He's been 100% bought in to what we are doing here and he showed up in a big way the second half in that race!"
