#UDTF Heads To Virginia Beach For A-10 Indoor Championships

The Flyers Look To Conclude Their Indoor Season With Some Hardware

DAYTON—The University of Dayton track and field team will conclude their indoor season this weekend at the A-10 championship in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The event will mark the climax of a history-making indoor season that saw multiple athletes set all-time records and the Flyers host the first home track and field meet in program history.
 
START TIME
  • The meet kicks off on Friday at 9:20 a.m. with the pentathlon 60m hurdles. Non-multi running events will get started at 1:15 p.m. with the 60m hurdle prelims.
  • Saturday's field events start with the shot put at 10 a.m. Action on the track will begin at 11 a.m. with the mile.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
  • The season started at the Oiler Open, hosted by Findlay University where junior Evelyn Albers secured the first win of the year in the pentathlon.
  • At the Wittenberg Tiger Opener, two teams took the track in the 4x200m, claiming the top two spots and recording the second and third fastest times in program history.
  • The Wolverine Invitational at the University of Michigan saw Jadyn Haywood get on the podium twice, finishing second in the 60m dash and third in the 200m.
  • The Indiana Invitational, hosted by Indiana University saw Haywood again impress as she won the 60m dash and finished second in the 200m. Rayana Burns also finished atop the podium at the meet, coming out victorious in the pentathlon.
  • Also at the Indiana Invitational, Jailee Clemmons set the fourth-best mark in program history in the long jump.
  • The Midwest Invitational featured several Flyers putting their names into the record books. Haywood recorded the fourth-best time in school history (7.51) on her way to a victory in the 60m dash and Freshman Charlotte Deines put up the second-best mark in program history (5.69m) in the long jump. Burns got herself into the top five in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.88.
  • The Flyers put on a show at their home meet, the Gem City Invitational, where they set even more personal bests and all-time marks. Among the best performances was once again Haywood who improved on her #2 all-time mark with a PR of 7.47. She also set the third-fastest time in program history in the 200 of 24.57 to secure another victory.
  • Clemmons set the second all-time mark in the long jump at the home meet with a PR of 5.72m.
  • At the Doug Raymond Invitational, hosted by Kent State University, Marissa Pritchett ran away from the field in the 5k, winning by 17 seconds with a PR of 17:20. Deines then improved on her second all-time mark with a PR of 5.75. Burns then set the fourth all-time mark in the 60m hurdles going 8.85 to also improve on her personal best.
  • The throwers then competed in one final competition at the Flag City Open, hosted by Findlay University, where Anna Yater set a PR of 17.39 in the weight throw to finish third.

FLYERS IN ACTION

Multiple Flyers will be eyeing the podium in Virginia Beach this weekend. Junior Jadyn Haywood enters as the favorite in both the 60m dash and the 200m as she currently has the conference-leading time in both events. Sophomore Camryn Thompson currently holds the fourth-best mark in the high jump, followed closely by freshman Mia Malito who has the sixth-best mark. Freshman Charlotte Deines and junior Jailee Clemmons will both be eyeing top finishes in the long jump as they are ranked fifth and sixth in the conference, respectively. Junior Jillian Yates takes her seventh-best conference mark in the weight throw into the weekend while the top-20 nationally pentathlon squad looks to solidify their spot in the rankings.
