Women’s Rowing Starts Season Strong At Marietta

The Varsity 4+ Boats Both Won Their Heats

MARIETTA, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's rowing team opened up the 2025 spring season Saturday against Mercy Hurst and Adrian at the Marietta Invitational.

The Flyers got both varsity and novice 8+ boats in the water for the first time this year, while the pair of varsity 4+ boats won their heats to highlight the outing.

UP NEXT
Dayton will return to action on April 5 at the Lubbers Cup in Michigan.

WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY
"The weather held off and we got some good racing in," said head coach Mike Wenker. "The varsity 8+ had a close race with Mercyhurst and the novice 8+ put together a good 2k considering the conditions. We have two weeks to work before the Lubbers Cup." 
V8: "This race was a good end to our spring break! It was nice to get on the water and race against other teams. Looking forward to see what we do together as a team this season!"
 
2V8: It was a great first race and we look forward to the rest of the season!"
 
V4: "It was a good way to see how much we improved from the fall! We can't wait to see what we can do!"
