KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- University of Dayton track and field competed in two locations Friday and Saturday as most jumpers, sprinters and throwers traveled to the Tennessee Invitational, hosted by the University of Tennessee while distance runners competed at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
In Tennessee, the Flyers recorded multiple program all-time top-five marks, including a school record in the 200m for
Jadyn Haywood. She also ran the ninth fastest time in Division One this season (11.33) in the 100m.
Jameson Pillifant set two top marks as she now sits at fourth all-time in the 400m hurdles and third in the 100m hurdles.
The distance runners recorded eight new personal bests in their three events. The 5k saw two Flyers finish in the top five as
Marissa Pritchett finished third and
Bryn Hothem took fifth.
HIGHLIGHTS
- For the second straight week, Jadyn Haywood broke a school record. On Friday, the junior posted a PR in the 200m (23.75) and recorded the fastest time in school history. The previous time was set by Chante Clinkscale (24.23) in 2022.
- It was a historic Friday for Jameson Pillifant, who posted the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best of 1:02.62 to finish fourth.
- All three Flyers in the hammer throw landed in the top ten. Jillian Yates finished fifth (49.13m), Maggie Hofner (47.79m) grabbed seventh, and Anna Yater (45.88m) placed ninth.
- Daniela Peralta was the runner-up in the javelin throw, recording a mark of 40.90m.
- On Saturday, the 4x100m team of Lianna Shakoor, Charlotte Deines, Anna Kessler, and Jadyn Haywood set the second-fastest time in school history of 46.29 as they finished fourth.
- Pillifant (14.29) and Raegan Ernst (14.54) moved to third and fifth all-time in the 100m Hurdles as they finished fourth and sixth respectively.
- Haywood took third in the 100m, running 11.33. Because her time was wind-aided, it does not count as a school record but it does rank her ninth in all of Division One this outdoor season.
- The distance team had an impressive showing in Cincinnati, setting eight new outdoor PRs across the 1,500m, 800m, and 5,000m.
