ST. LOUIS – The Pioneer Football League announced its preseason coaches poll for the upcoming 2025 fall campaign and predicted the University of Dayton program to finish fifth.
The Flyers were picked up one spot ahead of where they were chosen last year and received one second-place vote and two third-place votes. Dayton was selected behind PFL favorites San Diego, Drake, St. Thomas, and Butler. UD was predicted to finish ahead of the likes of Morehead St., Presbyterian, and Davidson.
The 2025 season will mark the 33
rd year of the Pioneer Football League and will begin conference play on Sept. 27 with Dayton hosting Stetson at Welcome Stadium. Â UD will kick-off the regular season at Eastern Illinois on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The Flyers are coming off their second year under head coach
Trevor Andrews and will look to build on the 6-5 and 4-4 PFL finish in 2024. Dayton was 4-2 at home and finished in a tie for sixth in the regular season standings. The Flyers return a veteran group for Coach Andrews in his third year.
