OXFORD, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's cross country finished second out of three teams Friday in their season opener at the RedHawk Rumble, hosted by Miami University. This race served as UD's lone 5k for the cross country season before they begin competing at the 8k distance next time out.
Five Flyers set new personal records at the distance. Senior
Owen Pukys was the first Flyer across the line, finishing in ninth place with a PR time of 14:58.27. Other personal records included Sophomore
Logan Arnold at 15:23.53, Sophomore
Gerrit Dam at 15:38.31, Senior
Jameson Maynes at 15:50.71, and Junior
Colin Sams, who finished with a time of 15:51.9. Another five Flyers competed in their first collegiate cross country competition as Freshmen
Kamden Kramer, Alex Bendaña,
Tyler Giunipero, and
Jacob Reash all made their first appearances for the Flyers. Sophomore
Jacob Finney also made his cross country debut after missing last season with an injury.
