Kasey Cannistraro and men's soccer sophomore
Santino Inkpen have been named the
Ohio's 529 Plan CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held Sept. 21-27.
Senior keeper Kasey Cannistraro turned in two strong performances to help the Flyers stay unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play this week. The Oakton, Va. native stopped all five shots she faced against Saint Louis in Thursday night's 0-0 draw, setting a new high as a Flyer, and then turned aside four shots at Loyola Chicago for her fourth consecutive clean sheet. Dayton played down a player for the final 54 minutes of play against Loyola, with Cannistraro facing seven shots in the second half, including three on-goal. Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week.
Sophomore keeper Inkpen recorded 10 saves and his first shutout in goal for the Flyers in their two matches this week. The redshirt sophomore played all 180 minutes between the post and held opposing attacks to 0.50 goals against average.
