DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team hits the road for the first time in nearly a month this weekend, traveling to the Steel City to take on Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Senior Olivia Baca scored just 14 seconds into the match and the Flyers got the game-winner from junior Laney Smith in the 74th minute to propel Dayton past crosstown foe Wright State, 2-1, on Thursday night.
 
The Flyers had five times the total shots of the Raiders, outpacing the visitors 20-4. UD had 11 shots on-goal compared to WSU's one, and also held a significant advantage in corners, 10-1.
 
WELL, THAT WAS FAST!
Olivia Baca's goal just 14 seconds into Thursday's match was the fastest goal scored in at least the last 21 years, and was just the sixth goal scored in under a minute in that same timeframe.
 
Flyer great and former All-American Alexis Kiehl accomplished the feat twice during her storied career, including a goal scored in just 17 seconds against Toledo on Sept. 21, 2014.
Along with Kiehl, Baca's tally joins Juliana Libertin (0:42 - 2013), Colleen Williams (0:47 - 2011), and Lauren MacCormick (0:31 - 2009) as goals scored in the first minute of action.
 
FRESHMAN FIRSTS
Freshman Kamryn Hoffman picked up her first career assist on the game-winning goal by Laney Smith against Wright State on Thursday night. She joins fellow rookie Reese Gallagher as freshmen to tally points this season.
 
Gallagher, a native of Copley, Ohio, registered her first assists in UD's win over Toledo (Aug. 16), and scored her first career goal against Louisville (Aug. 27). She's currently tied for the team lead in points this season with four.
 
The other members of the freshman class, Kelly McCandless, Delaney Rollins, and Campbell Wood, have all already debuted this season, with McCandless seeing action in all five games.
 
AGAINST THE PANTHERS
Dayton and Pittsburgh have played one another twice in program history, with each winning a game.
 
The Panthers defeated the Flyers at Baujan Field last season, 3-0, and UD's win came back in the 2008 campaign when Dayton won 3-2 in double overtime.

FLYER LEGACY - 30 YEARS IN THE MAKING
2026 marks two milestones for the UD women's soccer program, most notably it is the 30th anniversary of the first championship in program history.
 
The 1996 Flyers, in just their second year in the Atlantic 10, defeated La Salle (3-1), Fordham (1-0), and Rhode Island (0-0, 5-4 PKs) to lead UD to its inaugural championship.
 
Fast forward to present day - no other A10 program matches Dayton when it comes to league titles, leading the conference in both regular season (12) and tournament championships (11).
 
It is also the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, one of the most improbable titles in program history.
 
UD entered the 2016 Atlantic 10 Tournament as the No. 7 seed and proceeded to go on one of the most dominating runs to a championship the A10 has ever seen.
 
The Flyers defeated No. 2 Saint Louis 3-0 to open the tournament thanks to goals from Beth Kamphaus, Alexis Kiehl, and Libby Leedom. They then took down No. 6 seed George Washington with Kiehl adding two more goals, and then dominated No. 1 seed Saint Joseph's 7-0 in the championship final. Leedom had a hat trick in the final, while Kiehl added two goals, and Kamphaus and Micayla Livingston each had one.
