JESKE, STUBBS NAMED PFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Key Players In Dayton’s Seventh Straight Win Honored By League

ST. LOUIS – University of Dayton quarterback Alex Jeske and cornerback/kick returner Cameron Stubbs were recognized by the Pioneer Football League for their performances in Saturday's 59-31 win at Marist.  Dayton finished the season on a seven-game winning streak, 9-2 overall, with a 7-1 record in the PFL.  Jeske was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Stubbs was Special Teams Player of the Week.

Jeske accounted for six of the Flyer's seven offensive touchdowns.  He ran the ball 18 times for a career-high 179 yards and four TDs.  He also completed 13 of 20 passes for 198 yards, with two scores and one interception.  His 30 touchdown responsible for lead the league.  During UD's seven-game winning streak, the Glen Ellyn, Ill. native averaged 7.2 yards per carry while leading the team in rushing, and completing 61.0% of his passes.

The Flyer signal caller was also recognized by STATS (Honorable Mention National), College Football Performance Awards (Honorable Mention National) and College Sports Madness (PFL).

Stubbs returned four kickoffs for an average of 50.7 yards per return.  He had two 90-yard returns. His first was a 95-yarder that set up Dayton's first TD one play later.  His second came in the fourth quarter, and was a 90-yard return for a touchdown that essentially sealed the win.  Stubbs leads the PFL in kickoff return average (28.7) and is fourth in FCS football.  Even though his career average of 27.5 yards per return is the second-best in Flyer football history, the TD return was the first of his career.

Dayton has clinched no worse than second place in the PFL this season.  San Diego has already assured itself of the league's automatic berth in the NCAA FCS playoffs, but must win at Campbell this weekend to assure itself of an outright championship.  A Campbell win would result in a shared championship, which would be Dayton's 13th.
