DAYTON, Ohio - Over 2,300 fans had their first chance to cheer on an energetic Dayton men's basketball team in live action in the Second Annual Red and Blue Game on Saturday at UD Arena.
Junior forward Monty Scott (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) was the most active of the Flyers on the day. He finished with 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field including 3-of-6 from three-point range. He also pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out four assists.
Senior guard Mark Jones (Taftville, Conn.) connected on 4-of 11 shots from behind the arc en route to 20 points including 12 in the first half of play.
Sophomore center James Cripe (Loveland, Ohio) scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the post on both ends of the floor.
Freshman forward Norman Plummer (Fairfield, Ohio) led a group of eight newcomers with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting including a powerful dunk off a breakaway pass from classmate Trent Meacham (Champaign, Ill.) who finished with 14 assists.
The 2004-05 UD men's basketball team will have its first chance to play against another opponent in a scrimmage against Capital at UD Arena on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
