FLYER VOLLEYBALL STUNS BILLIKENS IN FIVE GAMES

DAYTON, Ohio - After losing the first two games, homestanding Dayton shocked Saint Louis with a 3-2 (23-30, 22-30, 30-26, 30-25, 15-9) Flyer victory in Atlantic 10 volleyball action at Frericks Center on Saturday afternoon.

The win marked the first time that Dayton rallied from down 0-2 to win a match since Oct. 26, 2002 when UD beat Duquesne in Pittsburgh, Pa. Ironically on Tuesday, Saint Louis was down 0-2 at Arkansas and came back to defeat the Lady Backs in five games.

Dayton is now 13-9 overall and 6-1 in A-10 conference matches after its eighth consecutive victory, which kept the Flyers atop the A-10 conference standings. Saint Louis fell to 10-12, 3-4 A-10.

After hitting just .183 as a team through the first two games, UD closed out the match with .486, .294 and .583 performances in the final three games respectively. Overall, the Flyers out hit the Billikens .308 to .297 and led in both blocks (11.0 to 7.0) and digs (58-53).

Four Flyers reached double figures in kills as part of a Flyer attack that was paced by 58 assists from senior Nicole Schott. Schott added nine digs and two blocks to go along with a pair of service aces.

Sophomore Robynne Green hit .519 with 16 kills and three blocks to lead the UD offense. She was followed by a gutsy performance from freshman Kortney Norris with 14 kills and five blocks.

Junior All-America candidate hit .600 with 14 kills and a match-high six blocks while sophomore Jamie-Lee Richards added 12 kills of her own.

Defensively, Dayton was led by 12 digs from sophomore libero Adrienne Green. Freshmen Julie Richards and Brittney Scheeringa finished with 11 and 10 digs respectively for the Flyers who were celebrating their "Dig for the Cure" match to raise money for the Greater Cincinnati affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Billikens were led by a 20-kill, 18-dig double-double from Aida Antanaviciute who hit .302 and added four blocks on the afternoon.

Dayton returns to action with a pair of conference matches in Philadelphia next weekend. UD takes on La Salle, Friday at 7 p.m. The Flyer then face Temple on Saturday at 4 p.m.
