TWO FLYERS EARN WEEKLY ATLANTIC 10 AWARDS

PHILADELPHIA - Men's soccer midfielder Terry Alvino was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and freshman volleyball player Kortney Norris was named A-10 Rookie of the Week Monday by the conference office. Alvino scored two goals over the weekend and Norris had three double-digit kill performances last week.

Norris (Indianapolis, IN) led Dayton to a 3-0 week by posting her first 20-kill match in a 3-2 win over Eastern Kentucky. She also added two blocks in that Tuesday contest. Against Atlantic 10 foe Fordham, she had 11 kills and four digs in a 3-0 UD sweep on Friday. On Sunday, Norris hit .359 while recording 18 kills in a 3-1 win over Rhode Island. On the week, she totalled a .318 hitting percentage with 4.45 kills per game.

Alvino (St. Louis, MO) scored the game-winning goal in UD's 1-0 shutout of Wright State Sunday night as the Flyers improved to 6-0-1 in their last seven with the Raiders. On Thursday, the senior scored from 35 yards out to knot the match at 1-1 against Michigan, in a game that ended up tied, 2-2, in double-overtime. He posted two goals while playing all 200 minutes in midfield.

The UD men's soccer team is 5-3-1 on the year, and will play host to George Washington in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field.

The UD volleyball team is 9-9 in 2005, with a 3-1 Atlantic 10 mark. On Friday, Dayton takes on Xavier in a 7:00 p.m. A-10 matchup at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati.
