University of Dayton head coach Jodi Eickemeyer has announced the dates for the 2005 University of Dayton Christmas Softball Camps.
The camps will feature: *Instruction in the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, infield defense, outfield defense, and catching. *Personal instruction from UD head Softball coach Jodi Eickemeyer, 1998 and 2000 Atlantic 10 Coach of the year. *Current collegiate softball players will also be instructing. *Emphasis on mental attitude.
Camp 1: "Dirt" Defense and Offense Camp (Saturday December 10, 9:00 a.m- 12:00 p.m.). This camp is designed for the player that plays on the dirt (Infielders, pitchers, and catchers). The "Dirt" Infield defense and offense camp is designed for softball players of all ages and levels. We will work on basic fundamentals of the infield along with the athletes hitting technique. Step-by-step process of hitting and bunting will be incorporated into many hitting stations.
Camp 2: Pitching Camp/ Catching Camp (Sunday December 11, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) This is going to be a beginning/ advanced pitching camp that is designed to teach the fundamentals of pitching through demonstration, drills, and personal instruction. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals and establishing control and speed. The advanced kids will be separated and will work on the change-up, rise-ball, drop ball, and curve. The catching portion of the camp will emphasize blocking, framing, stance, throwing, POP times, and pitch calling. Please provide your own catching gear.
Camp 3: "Grass" Defense and Offense Camp (Saturday December 17, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) This camp is designed for the player that plays on the grass (outfielders). The "Grass"/defense and offense camp is designed for softball players of all ages and levels. We will cover catching fly balls, groundballs, diving, throwing, blocking, backing up, relays, cut-offs, and communication. We will also cover the step-by-step process of hitting and will incorporate many hitting stations.
