VOLLEYBALL WINS 14TH STRAIGHT, BEATS DUQUESNE 3-0

PITTSBURGH - Dayton won its 14th consecutive match with a 3-0 (30-19, 30-20, 30-21) sweep of Duquesne in its Atlantic 10 regular season volleyball finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Flyers (19-9) have tied the second longest winning streak in school history matching the 2001 squad, which also won 14 straight matches. UD also clinched its best ever Atlantic 10 regular season record at 12-1 and will finish with the best A-10 record for the second consecutive season under third-year Head Coach Tim Horsmon.

Dayton dominated the match over Duquesne as it led in hitting percentage (.211 to .105), kills (46-30) and service aces (9-3).

Sophomore Jamie-Lee Richards and freshman Kortney Norris led the Flyers with 11 kills apiece while junior Faye Barhorst added 10 of her own. Richards and Barhorst also pitched in two blocks each.

Current A-10 Player of the Week Robynne Green had match highs of three service aces and four blocks to go along with nine kills. She was followed from the service line by fellow sophomore Adrienne Green and redshirt freshman Erin Schroeder with two aces each.

Adrienne Green also had 15 digs to lead the Flyer defense while classmate Amanda Kenny finished with 11.

Senior Nicole Schott had seven digs of her own while dishing out 35 assists for Dayton.

UD returns to action with a pair of non-conference matches in the Miami Valley this week. The Flyers host Cincinnati on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match at Frericks Center. Then on Saturday, Dayton heads to Wright State for a 4 p.m. match at the Nutter Center.
