DAYTON SOFTBALL SHUTSOUT IPFW FOR 7-0 WIN

March 27, 2005

Dayton, OH -  The University of Dayton softball team shutout IPFW in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader Sunday, 7-0.

With the win, UD improved to 6-7-1 on the year.

The Flyers came out swinging in the first inning as they were able to score six runs on three hits. Christine Eggers was 1-for-2 in game one with and began with a lead off single through the middle to start the Flyers off. Shannon St. Clair singled to left center field. Tamsyn Kellough walked to load the bases. Laura Matthews was then hit by a pitch and Eggers crossed the plate to put Dayton up 1-0. Tami Roudebush reached on a fielder's choice as St. Clair was called safe at home. Christina Vetter walked for Dayton to score Kellough and Ellie Malchow doubled to right field to put Dayton up 5-0. Vetter scored on a wild pitch for Dayton to put Dayton up 6-0.

UD put the game out of reach in the third inning as Tami Roudebush who was 1-for-3 in game one, homered to center field.

Melissa Myher pitched a complete game for the Flyers as she only allowed three hits, walking only one and striking out eight. Myher improved her record to 5-3 on the season. Myher has pitched 61 innings for Dayton recording 38 strikeouts.
