DAYTON - Current University of Dayton women's soccer student-athletes April Carbajal, Niki Reed and Courtney Sirmans, along with incoming freshmen Amanda Gallow and Anne Mariscalco were invited by the Region II Olympic Development Program staff to participate in the invitation-only Regional Camp from July 16-19th.
Selected players from across the Great Lakes region for birth years 1986 and 1987 were invited to the regional camp in DeKalb, IL.
"It's a great honor for our players and our program to have five invited to the Regional Camp," UD head coach Mike Tucker said. "From this pool of invited players, they will select 18 to represent Region II at the U19 Interregional in January, 2006.
From that group of 72 players (each of the other 3 regions will send a team of 18 players), they will select the U19 US Women's National Team to represent the United States at the next U19 FIFA Women's World Cup.
"Both Niki and Anne participated and were invited to last year's U19 Interregional," said Tucker. "It's nice to have two players (April Carbajal and Courtney Sirmans) who have been with our program for a year show enough improvement that they have been invited for the first time also."
In addition, Coach Tucker has been named the Head Coach of the '89 Ohio South State Select Team and will take them to Regional Camp in DeKalb, IL from July 11-16th. It is Coach Tucker's 15th year with the Ohio South program as a Head State Team Coach.
Assistant Coaches Amy Berbary and Manoj Khettry will also be participating in the ODP program. Berbary as the Assistant Coach of the '88 Ohio South State Team which will attend Regional Camp from July 6-11th and Khettry as the Assistant Age Group Coach for the Region 2 `86/'87 Regional Team.
