FLYERS SWEEP COLONIALS IN ATLANTIC 10 VOLLEYBALL ACTION

DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton dominated from start to finish in a 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-27) sweep of George Washington in Atlantic 10 volleyball action Saturday in front of 411 fans at Frericks Center.

The win evened UD's conference record at 1-1 and took its overall mark to 5-9 on the season. GW fell to 4-9 overall, 0-2 in A-10 play.

Dayton out hit George Washington .391 to .162 and also led in kills (57-36), blocks (8.0 to 4.0), digs (46-36) and service aces (6-4).

Three Flyers reached double figures in kills led by sophomore Robynne Green who hit .435 with 14 kills, four blocks and three service aces.

Classmate Jamie-Lee Richards finished with 13 kills while hitting .522 to go along with two blocks of her own.

Junior Faye Barhorst hit .500 on the afternoon and finished with 12 kills and four blocks. The Fort Loramie, Ohio native was honored during a pregame ceremony for recently becoming the 15th member of UD's 1,000 Kill Club. Barhorst now has 1,040 career kills, which ranks 11th in program history.

Senior setter Nicole Schott dished out 48 assists to go along with eight digs, five kills and two service aces.

Defensively, the Flyers were led by sophomore libero Adrienne Green with 14 digs. Freshman Brittney Scheeringa added eight digs of her own for Dayton.

UD remains at home to host Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup between two teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. The Flyers will face the Colonels at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Frericks Center.
