Dayton volleyball closes out a six-match homestand as a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference opponents visit Frericks Center this weekend. UD plays host to Rhode Island on Friday at 6 p.m. ET. The Flyers then face Fordham on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. Both matches can be followed live with GameTracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

UD (15-5, 5-0 A-10) takes a six-match winning streak into the weekend. The Flyers have also won 17 consecutive Atlantic 10 regular-season matches over the past two seasons.

The Flyers' will host their annual 'Dig for the Cure' match on Friday evening against Rhode Island. UD will raise money for the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for the second consecutive season.

The match will also kickoff a Flyer-Filled Friday that also includes a women's soccer match at 7:30 p.m. ET just outside at Baujan Field. The night then concludes with the introduction of the 2006-2007 UD men's and women's basketbal teams at Flyer Madness in Frericks Center at 10 p.m. ET.

DIG FOR THE CURE 2006
For the second consecutive season, Dayton will raise money for the fight against breast cancer during its "Dig for the Cure" campaign. On Friday, Oct. 13 UD will raise money for the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for each dig it records during the Flyers' match against Rhode Island. Individual sponsors can pledge money per dig earned by Dayton or make a flat donation. For more information, please call (937) 229-5632. In 2005, UD raised nearly $3,000 in its `Dig for the Cure' match.

FLYERS AGAINST THE COMPETITION
Dayton has a 35-11 combined record all-time against this weekend's opponents. The Flyers are 15-10 all-time against Rhode Island including two victories over URI last season. UD has a 20-1 all-time record against Fordham including a victory in the Bronx, NY in 2005. The Flyers have not lost to URI at Frericks Center since 1999. Dayton's only loss to Fordham came at the Rams' home gym in 1997.

DEFENDING THEIR TURF
The Frericks Center has been a challenge for visitors over the past two seasons as Dayton holds a 36-8 (.818) record in the 5,000-seat venue, which is the third-largest volleyball only facility in the nation. The Flyers have won 18 of their last 21 home matches including a 9-2 mark in 2006. UD is scheduled to play 15 regular-season matches at Frericks Center this season.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Dayton is off to a 15-5 start this season and has won 50 of 70 games played by holding its opponents to a .167 combined hitting percentage. The Flyer front line has recorded 193.0 blocks in its first 20 matches (2.76 bpg) while the back row has tallied 16.81 digs per game while allowing just 86 service aces to the opposition.

EFFICENT OFFENSE
The Flyers have hit .245 during a 15-5 start inwhich 11 of 15 victories have come by 3-0 sweep. Redshirt Sophomore Erin Schroeder has paced the UD offense with 11.62 assists per game and a career high of 71 assists against A-10 foe Xavier. Dayton has recorded kills on 802 of 1,634 (.491) balls set by Schroeder this season.
