FAIRFIELD, Ohio - The Musketeers ended a five-match UD win streak on Tuesday at Mercy HealthPlex in Fairfield with a commanding 5-2 victory. Dayton's points came from victories at #1 and #2 singles, but Xavier won the remaining four singles matches and swept the Flyers in doubles. UD is now 6-4 this spring.
Junior Tom Murphy improved to 8-1 this spring with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #1 singles over Jeremy Miller. James O'Connell came from behind to pull out a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 as he defeated Oliver Marinkovic at #2. Freshman David Peyton also went the distance in his match against Ra'ees Ismail at #4 singles, but fell 6-1 in the third set.
In the doubles draw, Murphy teamed up with Antonio Rodriguez for the first time this season but lost 8-2.
The Flyers are next in action against Duquesne on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Dayton Center Courts. Match play begins at 4:00 PM.
