TENNIS PLAYERS EARN ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE RECOGNITION

University of Dayton tennis players Nicole Dzubay and Tom Murphy were each recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference for the first time this season on Monday. Dzubay earned Rookie of the Week honors while Murphy, a junior from Carmel, IN, was recognized as the A-10 Player of the Week while. The awards marked the first time this spring that a Flyer received recognition from the conference.

Dzubay, a freshman from Sylvania, OH was one of four Flyers to record a win in both her singles and doubles matches at Akron on Feb. 25. Dzubay posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at #3 singles over Lindsey Berry to follow up an 8-3 victory at #2 doubles, her fourth doubles win this spring. The Akron dual, a 5-2 win, marked the lone contest the Flyers participated in this week.

Murphy went 2-0 at #1 singles and 1-0 at #1 doubles this week in Dayton's two matches. Murphy recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win over Xavier's Jeremy Miller on Feb. 21, followed by a 6-4, 6-7, 15-13 victory against Duquesne's Devon Peightal on Feb. 25. Murphy's doubles win also came against the Dukes, an 8-3 victory. He improved his #1 singles record to 9-1 this spring and is undefeated in A-10 play.
