The University of Dayton women's softball team fell in the Flyers' first game of the Comfort Suites Invitational, losing 8-3 to Cleveland State.
CSU opened with three runs in the top of the first inning, but in what would be a recurring theme, only one of the three was earned. UD came back to within one run, 3-2 after three innings, but two more unearned runs in the top of the fourth made that as close as the Flyers would get.
Melissa Myher was the hard-luck loser in the circle, going the distance and allowing three earned runs. Christine Eggers and Tami Roudebush led Dayton with two hits each.
UD falls to 1-3 on the year, and Cleveland State improves to 1-0. UD will play host Eastern Kentucky later on Saturday.
