DAYTON, OH - After winning two games in their final at bat earlier in the weekend, the Flyers found themselves on the other side Sunday, as Temple swept an Atlantic 10 doubleheader by scoring the game-winning runs in their final at bat of a 10-inning 5-4 game two win and a 3-2 game one win.
The Owls (11-16; 4-2 Atlantic 10) needed 10 innings to complete the sweep in game two. Dayton is now 10-19, 4-6 in the A-10.
Earlier in the day, the Owls took game, 3-2, with a three-run rally in the seventh.
In game two, the Flyers Jessica Rohn led off the game with a homer to left center. After a single and a stolen base, Katie Bordeaux singled up the middle, RBI for a 2-0 lead. An error and a double led to a 4-0 Temple advantage and Melissa Myher came in to replace starter Chelsea Grozenski with two out.
The Flyers cut into the lead in the third as Mollie Schrank singled to pitcher, stole second and scored on a single by Tami Roudebush.
In the fifth, Ellie Malchow started the inning by reaching on an error. Christine Eggers was hit by pitch and Shayln Adams reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Tamsyn Kellough singled to right center to cut the margin to 3-2, and Blair Crabtree followed with a single to right center to tie the game.
Neither team could score until Temple in the 10th, when Makeala Compton singled to center field was sacrificed to second and scored on a single by Danielle Fagan.
Kellough led off the bottom of the 10th with a double, but was stranded on third. She finished the day two-for-five with a pair of runs batted in. Roudebush also went two-for-five while Mollie Schrank was two-for-four with a run scored.
Myher was saddled with her second one-run loss of the day, allowing just five hits in 9.1 innings of work and one earned run.
Dayton is back in action on Thursday, at Butler, for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
