FLYERS LOOK TO GET BACK ON TRACK TONIGHT AT NORTHERN KENTUCKY

Sept. 12, 2006

Dayton, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team (0-2-3) will make a short trip down I-75 to Wilder, Kentucky on Tuesday to take on D-II opponent Northern Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. E.T. The Flyers are still in search of their first win of the season and look to end a two-game scoreless streak. Real-time stats of tonight's game through Gametracker are available at www.daytonflyers.com.

WEEKEND IN REVIEW
The Flyers (0-2-3) went 0-1-1 once again in the weekend's action at Baujan Field. On Friday, UD came up short in a 1-0 loss to University of Michigan on a goal by UM's Katie Miler in the 29th. Though the UD women posted 11 shots, they couldn't seem to find the back of the net and were held scoreless for the first time in the 2006 season. On Sunday, the Flyers battled for 110 minutes and continued their scoring struggles as they posted a 0-0 tie against Illinois State University. Sophomore goalkeeper Niki Reed came up with six saves for the Flyers and freshman forward Mandi Back attempted a career high six shots.

SCOUTING THE NORSE
The Norse went 1-1 over the weekend, as they fell to Quincy University 3-0 on Friday (Sept. 8) and topped Southern Illinois at Edwardsville 1-0 on Sunday (Sept. 10). Northern Kentucky is now 4-2-0 on the year and are led by junior forward Jamie Light with three goals and one assist on 18 shots. In 2005, the Norse finished with a record of 19-3 overall, 12-1 conference, finishing as the Great Lakes Valley Conference champions.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following Tuesday's match, UD will head to Columbus, Ohio to take part in the Ohio State tournament September 15-17. The Flyers open the tournament with a match against Washington on Friday (Sept. 15) at 5 p.m. ET and take on No. 16 California on Sunday (Sept.17) at 11:30 a.m. ET.

BACK-FIRE
Freshman forward Mandi Back is ranked in the top five in the Atlantic 10 Conference in overall shots taken and shots per game. Back ranks third in the league in shots/game (3.60) and fourth in total shots (18).

SHARING THE WEALTH
All five of the Flyers' goals this year have come from five different players. All four of the Flyers' assists have come from four different players. "Mandi Back, Caitlin Proffitt, Niki Reed and Natalia Walters each have one goal on the season, while Dara Elk has one goal and one assist."
